How to install the Microsoft Compatibility Pack?

Since Microsoft has added the new Office Open XML formats to the earlier 2007 and 2010 Microsoft Office programs, users are facing issue in opening and then saving files with this format. Windows Vista

  1. Click Run on the downloaded setup
  2. Enter the administrator password, if asked
  3. Accept “Microsoft Software License Terms” and click Continue
  4. Click Ok and it will begin installing the compatibility pack
  5. Click Ok at the last step and it’s done

Windows XP

  1. Click Run twice and then accept the “Microsoft Software License Terms”
  2. Click Ok and the pack will be installed in few minutes
  3. Click OK after the processing completes
