Microsoft Office 2016 is a version of Microsoft Office productivity suite came after Office 2013. To get Office 2016, you need to buy, download, install and then activate it. To perform these processes, there is a series of steps that needs to be followed.

You can purchase MS Office 2016 setup offline or online. Upon online purchase via www.office.com/setup, you will receive a 25-digit product key on your registered email ID. Upon offline purchase, you will receive an Office retail card, on the back of which this 25-digit key is mentioned. Keep this key secure with you, as you will need it later at the time of Office 2016 subscription activation or while logging in to your account.

Office 2016 for Home

Office Setup For PC

  1. Visit https://setup.office.com/ and sign in to your Microsoft account or create a new account (new users)
  2. Enter Office product key
  3. Select your subscription and click download button to begin the downloading process
  4. There, you will get the choice to choose from different versions and languages
  5. Depending upon your browser, run the downloaded setup
  6. Click Run (in Edge or Internet Explorer), Setup (in Chrome), or Save File (in Firefox)
  7. After installation, open any of the application of MS Office 2016
  8. Here, you will be see a Microsoft Office activation wizard
  9. Click activate and enter the same product key, if asked
  10. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete activation

Office Setup For Mac

  1. First two steps as same with those listed in PC
  2. Now, log in to your Microsoft account and install Office setup 2016
  3. For this, you have to open My Account and under the name of your subscription, choose Install
  4. On the next window, select install under Install information
  5. This will begin downloading the installation package
  6. Once the download completes, open Finder and go to Downloads
  7. Double-click Microsoft_Office_2016_Installer.pkg
  8. Click continue
  9. Review the software license agreement
  10. Choose agree to the terms of the software license agreement
  11. Select how you want to install the Office 2016 and click continue
  12. Change your install location, if you want and then click Install
  13. Enter your Mac login password and click Install software
  14. Click the Launchpad icon in the dock to display all your applications
  15. Click the Microsoft icon and then click Get Started followed by What’s new
  16. This will begin activation process
  17. Enter the product key, if asked
  18. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish activation
  19. It’s good to go!

Office Setup 2016 for Business

  1. Sign in with your work or school account by visiting https://aka.ms/office-install
  2. From the drop-down list, choose your preferred language and accept the default to install 32-bit or select Advanced and choose 4-bit
  3. Choose Install
  4. Click Run, Setup or Save file option, depending upon your browser
  5. You will be prompted “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?”
  6. Click Yes
  7. This will begin the installation
  8. You’re all set!
  9. Activate it and you will be able to access all its applications

For Mac

  1. Log in with your School or work account at https://aka.ms/office-install
  2. On the office page, select Install option available under Install Office 2016 for Mac
  3. This will begin downloading the installer package
  4. Open Finder, go to Downloads, and double-click Microsoft_Office_2016_Installer.pkg
  5. Rest of the steps are same as those listed above in Office 2016 for home (Mac)
